SONGREPS
For the last 25 years, we’ve been in many different settings where we’ve heard someone say something like: “It seems like God wants to release songs from Colorado to bring healing, to help, and to influence our nation and the nations of the world.” As a response to those words, we started cultivating a collaborative community of songwriters called SONGREPS. We’re facilitating songwriting opportunities, resources, events, and online writing groups. The results have been AMAZING! Hundreds of new songs are being written each year. We are watching artists build friendships with each other, co-write, record, form new bands, build music businesses, and lead worship at each other’s churches and events. It’s our belief that God is inviting artists together at this time in history to collaborate and write songs that will mark future generations. Songs that speak hope to the broken places of our culture, songs that give helpful language to the suffering, and songs that shine light on the redemptive work of the Holy Spirit on the earth. As a group of friends, we are leaning in with curiosity and courage to discover the sound of this ground. Shakespeare once said, “The earth has music for those who listen.” What if God helps us discover a sound from the ground that could actually help to heal the ground?🤯 Here’s some info about the opportunities, resources, events, and online writing groups that we curate: SONGREPS {FORUM} events are invitation-only online Zoom gatherings. We’ve created these opportunities to give you new tools, fresh inspiration, and encouragement to nurture your songwriting. Our dear friend and fellow songwriter, Aaron Wardle, masterfully hosts these events. He interviews songwriters and then facilitates a Q&A for the attendees at the end. We aim to help you discover some time-tested techniques that will enhance your songwriting craft and discuss our own songwriting practices with others in the SONGREPS community. SONGREPS Groups create opportunities for songwriters to hone their craft by offering several 6-week online writing groups throughout the year. Each writer has to turn in something they wrote that week. It doesn’t have to be a full song. It can be instrumental, it can just be a chorus, it can be recorded on a phone or in a studio. The goal isn’t to turn in something perfect or high quality, it’s to put the reps in and possibly write more songs over the course of a year than you ever have before! Here’s the funny part: we asked several writers what would motivate them to get their butts in a seat with a pen in their hands to write a song each week, and they said, “If we knew that we would be tenderly, gently, and loving removed from the group if we didn’t turn in something each week, that’s all the motivation we would need.” We thought that was hilarious, so that’s what we do. If a writer can’t turn in a song or even a piece of a song by the end of the week, they are tenderly, gently, and loving removed from the group. Hahaha. They can always jump back in the next time around though, so the writing isn’t permanently removed! 🙂 The SONGREPS Soirée is an annual gathering where we invite everyone in the community to dress up a little bit, eat together, listen to some music, and share some stories with each other. It’s an incredible time! The SONGREPS Annual Songwriter Gathering is an invitation-only retreat in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. It’s 3 days of writing, collabs, eating good food, laughing, crying, worshiping, learning new techniques, finding new tools, making new friends, and deepening relationships with old friends. It’s honestly been life-changing for us and for many others. We love it! If you are a songwriter and would like to be a part of SONGREPS, we would LOVE to meet you and hear your story! Send us an email to [email protected] and we’ll get back with you as quickly as we can!
